Hello Backers!
Last week we promised to share details of the production process.
My project partner, Mike Schiano from Airship Notebooks, put together this brief (but great!) 3:30 minute video to give you all an overview of the process. I watched it this morning with my family and we thought it was like taking a field trip with Mr. Rogers!

Production Complete, January 2020 Delivery, and Gifting Cards

Hello Backers,
Production is Complete!
- The Sketchnote Ideabooks are done!
- The paper has been cut & folded into signatures.
- The signatures were threaded & bound waiting for covers.
- The covers have been debossed & glued into books.
- The finished books were sorted & shrink-wrapped ready for boxing.
- And the boxes are now awaiting pick up!
- We’ll share some pictures of the production process in few days
Everything has been going according to plan, and the production itself was actually ahead of schedule... however...
It took a little longer than expected to START production.
January 2020 Delivery
After hitting the figurative "start button" we have been crunching the numbers, speaking with the factory in China, and working out freight timing and shipping details with the team at Quartermaster Logistics, hoping to shave off as much time as possible.
Now that we are about to load boxes onto freighters (big boats) to send them to distribution centers for shipping to our backers, we can conclude that the Ideabooks should be delivered during January 2020.
It takes about 25 to 35 days for the books to get from the factory to the various ports of entry. Then it will take about 5 to 10 days to get through customs and to the distribution warehouses.
For everyone in the major regions we identified, it will take a few days to set up shipping, and a few days for the carriers to get your Ideabooks to you. For the "Rest of the World" backers (as described in Update 7), it can take longer.
We will do our best to keep everyone updated as things are ported around to the corners of the world. At a minimum, we will update you again when you need to keep an eye out for tracking numbers for your shipments... but we are planning some surprises for our backers that we think you will enjoy.
Gifting Cards for Giving
Because of the timing, we realize many of you wish to give Sketchnote Ideabooks as a gift to other people for the holidays. To help with that we’ve created 3 gifting card options for you:
1. Printed gifting card PDFs
These 2 easy-to-print color PDF files provide a ready to print and fold template for both US Letter and A4 sized printers. Simply print on one side of the page and fold the page in quarters to create a card like this:

Mid November Sketchnote Ideabook Update

Hello Backers!
Here’s a little update from Mike Schiano and me about The Sketchnote Ideabook Kickstarter.
Book Production and Shipping Status
The Ideabooks are in production. We are currently working to hone in on what that time will be. We hope to share that information within the next week or two.
We've had a few people ask if the Ideabooks will be sent to some people at different times based on when they backed the Kickstarter or based on their location (i.e., will they be sent out in batches?). All backers and people that pre-ordered on Backerkit should receive their Ideabooks around approximately the same time.
It will vary based on a number of factors (international shipping is fun!), however we have ordered all of the Ideabooks that we need (with extras just in case) and have every intent to ship them to our backers and pre-orderers all at the same time.
Sketchnote Typeface Dingbat Icons
I’ve been starting to sketch out the 15 new icons to be added to the special edition Sketchnote Typeface Dingbats font and thought I’d share a sample of those early sketches right here:
I’ll be finishing up the final work this week, and then Delve Withrington of Delve Fonts will integrate those icons into the typeface. We’ll also be giving backers who selected the Sketchnote Typeface packages or add-ons the EPS (vector) and PNG (raster) versions of the same icons.
The typeface and updated icons will be delivered this weekend to backers to have purchased it.
We plan on releasing this update typeface in December, in case you missed it and would like a copy for yourself.
Sketchnote Handbook & Sketchnote Workbook Add-Ons
Now that the credit cards on Backerkit have been charged, Mike Schiano is working with my publisher, Peachpit Press, to obtain the digital versions of my books.
Once he has those, Mike will send you an email to download your copy. We hope that will be completed within the next week.
